“Up-Cycling” Single Use Plastic Items

This Term, as part of our on-going Eco-work and in preparation for our Green Flag Award 2019, Primary 5, 6 and 7 pupils participated in the task of “Upcycling” single use plastic items which are used in school. The pupils investigated and discussed the amount of plastic waste pupils produce each day in school and they then examined a variety of ideas on how school waste plastic items which could be “upcycled”. The pupils really enjoyed and worked very hard on “Upcycling” their plastic items, the finished creations included Piggy Banks, Plant Pots, Pencil Holders, Watering Cans, Trowels, Shovels and Toys such as Space Rockets and Army Tanks. WOW !!! Don’t they look “UP-CYCLING FANTASTIC” !!!!
