Primary 6 & Primary 7 pupils all had a very enjoyable day in Kilbroney Park

On Wednesday 7thOctober all our Primary 6 & Primary 7 pupils went with Mrs Mc Court and Jacqueline to visit Kilbroney Park.

The day began very well with beautiful sunshine and the children and teachers getting prepared for the hill-walking trip, by putting on mountain climbing boots, socks and back-packs for the day ahead.

We were led by Phil and Colin, who are very experienced Hill-Walkers and who shared their great knowledge of Kilbroney Park, it’s history, all the habitats and the folklore of the Cloc-Mor Stone.

We began our climb at around 10.30, on our journey Colin & Phil told us about the amazing plant-life, the hundreds of habitats for both mini-beasts and other animals and the history of Kilbroney Park.

We were all exhausted when we reached the famous Cloc-Mor Stone, we all enjoyed hearing the Legend of Finn McCool and the Scottish giant. We were all ready for our lunch and we’re surrounded by beautiful scenery beside the Cloc-Mor stone.

On our way down the mountain we saw the most amazing local views and landmarks, Colin and Phil made us the most delicious hot chocolate, we were all exhausted when were completed the 5 mile journey.

A great day was had by all!!
