Aer Lingus Lands at St.Teresa\'s P.S

The pupils and staff at St. Teresa’s Primary School, Tullyherron had a very special visit from a member of Aer Lingus’s Cabin Flight Personnel, Mrs Claire Lonergan. Mrs Lonergan is an Air Hostess, who is a senior member of the flight Cabin’s Personnel, she has been employed by the very successful Irish Air-Line Company for over 15 years. Mrs Lonergan made a very special visit to St. Teresa’s Primary School, Tullyherron to coincide with the topic Travel & Transport being covered by the Foundation and Key Stage One children.

During Mrs Lonergan’s visit the girls and boys learnt lots of interesting facts about Flying and the types of Aircraft used by Aer Lingus. She presented the school with a model Aer-Lingus 1930’s “Air-Bus” to mark Aer-Lingus’s 75th Anniversary and Mrs Lonergan also brought lots of novelty gifts, provided by Air Lingus. The children were given some useful tips when flying, such as, drinking from a bottle of water to avoid painful ears when Taking Off!

Mrs Mc Court, the school’s principal, stated that,

“ Many of our pupils & staff now feel much more confident about Flying before going on their Summer holidays in July & August as Mrs Lonergan explained the stringent Health & Safety measures which are taken by Aer Lingus to ensure all passengers safety.  During the visit Mrs Lonergan also explained the rigorous Health & Safety training that all Aer Lingus personnel must undergo each year for 2 weeks, at Headquarters in Dublin, to refresh and update their training in Health & Safety and on emergency procedures. “  I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mrs Lonergan for taking the time to visit our school, to answer all of the children’s questions and enable them to learn so much about Flying as a form of Transport.“
